# Privacy Policy — Coyote Run

**Effective date:** 28 July 2026
**Applies to:** the Coyote Run mobile app (iOS and Android)

## Summary

Coyote Run is designed to keep your data private. **All of your information stays on your device.** The app has no user accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no third‑party tracking. Nothing you record — your runs, location, heart rate, or settings — is sent to us or to anyone else. The only time data leaves your device is when *you* deliberately tap "Share" to share a run image, at which point you choose where it goes.

## Who we are

Coyote Run is an independent, personal fitness application. In this policy, "we," "us," and "the app" refer to Coyote Run and its developer. If you have questions, contact us at **[insert contact email]**.

## Information the app accesses, and why

The app requests the following permissions on your device. In every case the data is used only to make the app work and is **stored only on your device**; it is **never transmitted off your device** by us.

### Location (GPS)
- **What:** Your precise location while a run is active, including in the background so tracking continues with the screen off.
- **Why:** To measure distance, pace, speed, and to draw your route map.
- **Where it goes:** Stored only on your device for the current run. We do not upload, sell, or share it.

### Heart rate / Health data (iOS, via Apple Health and Apple Watch)
- **What:** Your heart‑rate readings, read from Apple Health (typically written by an Apple Watch).
- **Why:** To display your live heart rate during a run and, optionally, to drive connected‑device intensity based on your heart‑rate zone.
- **Where it goes:** Read on‑device through HealthKit and used only in the app in real time. We do **not** write health data, and we do **not** use it for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than the features you see. It is never shared with third parties or used for data‑mining.

### Bluetooth
- **What:** A local Bluetooth Low Energy connection to a compatible DG‑Lab Coyote device, if you choose to pair one.
- **Why:** To connect to and control the device based on your pace or heart rate.
- **Where it goes:** The connection is local between your phone and the device. No personal data is collected through Bluetooth and nothing is transmitted to us.

### Photos (background image)
- **What:** A single photo you optionally choose as the background for a shareable run card.
- **Why:** To personalize the run image you create.
- **Where it goes:** Copied into the app's private storage on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.

### Settings and run data
- **What:** Your preferences (weight, target pace, target distance, target heart‑rate zone, connected‑device channel settings) and the details of the current run (time, distance, splits, route, calories).
- **Why:** To provide the app's features and remember your preferences.
- **Where it goes:** Stored locally on your device (in the app's private storage / preferences). Not transmitted.

## Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect, and the app does not contain:

- User accounts, names, email addresses, or logins.
- Analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking SDKs.
- Advertising or advertising identifiers.
- Third‑party trackers or data brokers.
- Any server or cloud backend operated by us — the app has no backend.

## Sharing a run

Coyote Run can generate an image summarizing a run (stats, an optional route map, and any channel names you enter). This image is created **on your device** and is only shared when **you** tap the share button and pick a destination (for example Messages, a social app, or Save to Photos). At that point, what happens to the image is governed by the app or service you choose to share it with — not by us.

## HealthKit commitments (iOS)

Where the app uses Apple HealthKit to read heart‑rate data, we specifically commit that:

- Health data is used **only** to provide in‑app features (live heart rate, heart‑rate‑based intensity).
- Health data is **never** used for advertising or marketing, and is **never** sold or shared with third parties.
- Health data is **not** transmitted off your device by the app.

You can review and revoke the app's Health access at any time in the iOS **Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices**, or in **Settings → Privacy & Security → Health**.

## Data storage, retention, and deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. We have no copy. You are in control:

- **Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data** from your device.
- You can revoke any permission (Location, Bluetooth, Health, Photos) at any time in your device's system Settings.
- Starting a new run replaces the previous run held in the app.

## Security

Because data stays on your device, its security is provided by your device's own protections (passcode, biometrics, and OS sandboxing that keeps app data private to the app). We recommend keeping your device locked and your operating system up to date.

## Children

Coyote Run is not directed to children. The app includes an optional feature that controls a personal electro‑stimulation device; that feature and the app are intended for **adults (18+)** only.

## Health and safety notice

Coyote Run is a fitness and personal‑device companion app. It is **not a medical device** and does not provide medical advice. If you choose to connect and use a personal electro‑stimulation device, you do so **at your own risk** and must follow the in‑app safety warning, including not using it if you have a pacemaker, an implanted or wearable medical device, a heart condition, or epilepsy, or if you are pregnant. Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort. Consult a physician if you have any health concerns before exercising or using such a device.

## Your choices and control

- Grant or deny any permission when prompted, or change it later in system Settings.
- The app functions with reduced features if a permission is denied (for example, no route tracking without Location).
- Delete all app data by uninstalling the app.

## Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy and revise the "Effective date" above. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version distributed with the app.
